Mortal Kombat es un mítico juego de lucha que apareció a principios de los años 90 y revolucionó el concepto que hasta entonces existía del género. Se basaba en gráficos renderizados y totalmente reales, y mostraba escenas de violencia y sangre bastante explícitas con gran crudeza. Desde aquel primer Mortal Kombat han ido apareciendo sucesivamente diversas entregas, reediciones y versiones tanto para ordenador como para consola.
